Orin J. Wait
| The Presidents and Chancellors of Antioch | Reverend O.J. Wait had ties to Antioch long before becoming its president. He was among the founders of the College, who met at the Christian Convention of 1850 in Marion, NY, where Antioch was born. As editor of the Christian journal The Herald of Gospel Liberty (1851-1856, 1868-1876), he maintained a strong interest in and wrote frequently on its affairs. Described as a witty and logical minister, Wait held several pastorates from Maine to Ohio. Wait's administration, though, was characterized later by Professor Amos R. Wells as "brief and unfortunate," and he held office for only a single academic year. | ![]() |
